Mrs. Tsao has over 30 years of experience working and researching inorganic and bio-inorganic chemical processes and toxicology in urban and industrial wastes to determine their environmental impacts.

Throughout her professional career, she took part in regional projects to assess water quality, soil and groundwater contamination, solid waste characterization, and industrial recycling in the Sinos hydrographic basin (Corede-Sinos).

Additionally, she coordinated the installation of a water quality laboratory in the La Salle Academic Center and the setup and management of an Analytical Center in the Federal University of Health Sciences in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil.

She has a successful academic career as professor of the Universidade Federal de Ciencias da Saude de Porto Alegre, the Universidade La Salle (UNILASALLE) in Canoas, and Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul, all of them in Brazil.

As the advisor of undergraduate and graduate students, she supervised analyses of soil contamination by heavy metals plumes and hydrocarbon evaporation fringes, groundwater contamination by organic pesticides (Fipronil), and assessments of surficial processes related to water acidity and variation of phosphates level.

She also participated in the project to design and develop the Environmental Web Database – Datasinos, used for research and to support public management decisions related to the environment of the Sinos hydrographic basin.

Lately, she has been working as an environmental consultant for public and private companies.
