Mr. Coelho has more than 40 years of experience in the geology, geotechnical, and environmental fields. He holds a B.A.Sc. an M.A.Sc. in Geology and a Ph.D. in Soil Science. He also holds specializations in Stratigraphy and Sedimentary Geology, and Geoprocessing.

During his career, he worked on many projects, technical services, supervisions, and consulting in geotechnics and hydrogeology. In addition, he coordinated geotechnical services in a variety of construction projects, such as rockfills, earth dams, tunnels, pumping stations, channels, dykes, drainage, and aqueducts. He has supervised irrigation projects, slope stabilizations, evaluations of groundwater contamination, waste piles, and tailing dams. He also worked with numerical modeling of groundwater exploitation and in the evaluation of pollutants behavior in the water bodies and associated sediments.

As a professor of graduate studies at the University of Vale do Rio dos Sinos, he developed and coordinated researches in geotechnical, hydrogeological, and GIS/remote sensing. As the university representative, he developed dynamic numerical modeling to assess the mass movements of a mountain range.
